Wilson is a British journalist and author of several investigative books, including Jesus: The Evidence ( LJ 3/1/85). Here he looks at all types of claims of after death experiences: past life memories, spiritual mediums, ghost sightings, and tales of resuscitated patients. He views all with a skeptical eye and is quick to point out and debunk fraud and dubious research when he finds it. For this very reason, he is a reliable witness when presenting claims that seem authentic. His approach is objective but sympathetic, and he has collected a wealth of interesting material. In the end he admits that he has found nothing that he would consider real proof, but he also says: "We may not have proved that there is some form of after death experience, but perhaps we have at least furnished sufficient evidence for the issue to be taken seriously."
